What Causes Tinnitus And Severe Headache In An Alzheimer’s Patient?
Hello. I am extremely concerned about my 84 yr old mother who has Alzheimers. In December she suffered a TIA incident. Since that time she has complained about intermittent ringing in her one ear and severe head pain. Not a headache but the top of her head actually hurts, constantly and especially to touch. She is taking Vicodin with no relief. She has seen a neurologist and has had a biopsy for arteritis which was negative. She is on 25 mg Nortriptyline with no results. Looking for some additional insight as to what I can ask her doctors. Diane

The tinnitus could be due to ear problem as simple infections in middle part of ear can cause tinnitus. You need to consult ENT surgeon and get her ears examined. However, tinnitus is also common in elderly population and is usually present with hearing problems.
