What Causes Tinnitus, Syncope With Vomiting, Slurred Speech And Difficulty Writing?
My friend woke up one morning and heard a ringing in his left ear. He fainted and when he came to himself, he experienced excessive vomiting. He is experiencing slurred speech and weakness on the right side of his body. He is having difficulty writing. He is incarcerated and has not been to the hospital. Do these systems sound like food poisoning?
Hi. It appears that your friend is having symptoms of a stroke or a cerbrovascular accident. Slurring of speech and weakness on the right side of the body is a sign of a blood clot or bleeding into the left side of the brain. Fainting and projectile vomiting indicate raised intra-cranial pressure.
He needs to be taken to the ER or hospital casualty immediately to have these neurological symptoms evaluated and initiate treatment. A CT scan and an MRI may need to be done. Once this is ruled out then we can ponder over what the other causes of his symptoms may be. As of now I will recommend that you have him evaluated at the earliest. If he has recovered completely on his own then that may be because he had a TIA - or a transient ischemic attack. This means a full blown stroke or CVA is soon to be expected. He needs to be taken to the ER ASAP.
Tinnitus can also present when something in the brain presses on the auditory nerve.
