What Causes Tinnitus While Having Mild Hearing Loss In An Elderly Person?

I am 70 and realize hearing loss is to be expected. However, I have noticed that when I yawn they open up briefly. So I wonder if there is another issue or if this is the way hearing loss starts. I also have ringing in my left ear. That started about 6-8 months ago and at first made me sick to my stomach but I am now used to it and it only gets loud periodically.
