What Causes Tinnitus While Suffering From Cold?

Hi I have had a cold for over a week now, and this morning woke up with ringing in one ear, and it has been constant. I took some Sudafed earlier, which has not helped at all. The ringing seems to be getting louder...Anything that I can do right now??

Tinnitus while suffering from cold seems to be due to Eustachian tube dysfunction and excessive ear infection. You should avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain hygiene of ear canal. Go for valsva maneuvers. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. Doctor may order certain test like audiometry , CT scan, low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss , exposure to loud noises, and earwax build-up. Do valsalva maneuver. Put Otogesic ear drops.
