What Causes Tinnitus?
My left ear has just started to have billowing noise/feeling to it. It s like having the back windows in your car down a few inches and no other Windows/sunroof open. It happens when I m standing, sitting and/or laying down. Any ideas as to what could be causing it. I ve never had ear problems before and nothing is stopping it from happening. Thank you.

Tinnitus is common issue and most causes are benign and temporary. However it this lasts for longer period then it should be evaluated. Tinnitus can occur due to causes like chronic ear infection, perforated eardrum, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc.
Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, X-ray, MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised.
