What Causes Tiredness And Weight Loss Despite Taking Levothyroxine?

Hi.my name is Dorothy. I m 54 yes.old I have an under active thyroid. I m on 50 MCG.of levothroxin.my family Dr.does routine blood work.she says the levels are right.but I m still so tired.and irritable.and a poor appitie.I ve lost 14 lbs in one year. My legs feel so weak.and hurt.please any help would be so appreciated. Thanks Dorothy.

Hello,

There's not a clear cause that I can see for your symptoms, since some of your symptoms could be from low thyroid, and others (such as weight loss) from high thyroid levels.

I would be concerned that something other than thyroid issues are causing you problems.

I would check free T4 and T3 levels just to make sure, but then I would do a full neurological exam, check basic labs, and see if it looks like there could be any other cause for some of these symptoms.
