What Causes Tiredness, Itchy Arms And Cough After Taking Lo Loestrin?

I am 42 female, my last period start date was 2 weeks late. I started march 24th and ended April 4th. On April 9th i begin bleeding and passing 8-12 clots a day, if not more. it is not a normal flow, it is extremely heavy and i go through about 12 pads during the day. it is May 20th and it is still the same. my family doctor put be on Lo Lestrin FE to stop teh bleeding until i get to an OBGYN on june 122th, however, I am more concerned than that doctor and dont know if i should go to ER. I am very tired. Since taking the pills, i am scratching my arms, have a bad cough and jsut feel weak.

Hi,

Lo Loestrin Fe contains both ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone which is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses. It is also used to restore normal menstrual periods, decrease blood loss during menstrual bleeding, reduce the the risk of developing ovarian cysts etc.

But, like other medications, it has also some side effects such as irregular uterine bleeding, breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods, fatigue, unusual tiredness and weakness, exhaustion, cough, stuffy nose, flu like syndrome, sore throat, easily bruising or bleeding, dizziness, drowsiness etc. This medication may cause symptoms of serious allergic reactions like itching, rashes, swelling of lips, tongue, throat, face, eyes, hands or feet, wheezing, breathing difficulties, hypotension, rapid heartbeat etc. You should inform your doctor first for your present sufferings for medical help.
