What Causes To Taste Metal In The Mouth While On Thyroid Medication?
I'm 57yr old, fairly healthy, I do take med for Thyroid problems. I take a mulit vitamin, V-d3, & my Thyroid daily & have for years,, will Thyroid for just the last 2 years... For 8 days now I get a metal taste in my mouth after I been a wake for 3-4 hours & last all day, does go away after I eat for like 30 mins then is back... what is it?
As per your complain the symptoms seems to be most probably due to side effect of the medications that you are taking as metallic taste is commonly seen as a side effect of medicine intake..
Other common causes can be acid reflux, metallic dental fillings, dry mouth etc..
I would therefore suggest you to consult your treating physician and get evaluated and he can evaluate you clinically and can alter the dose of medications as per the requirement..
As of now to mask the metallic taste you can chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gum.. Gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash.. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
