What Causes Tongue Muscle Pull After Excess Sleep?

I sleep heavy and at times I sleep up to 14hrs without changing position. When this happens I wake up with my tongue stuck to the bottom of my mouth. I feel like I ve pulled muscles in my tongue and neck for the next few days. What causes this?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have tongue struck to bottom of mouth after excessive sleep is a symptom of central sleep apnea as an an imbalance in the brain and central nervous system occurs during sleep. Another major cause for this is anxiety attack due to excessive worrying about minor things even.

Need no to panic about it. Visit general practitioner once and go for 7 min. anxiety test. Get properly examined all the airways and oral cavity as well. Positive airway pressure is the safest method to get rid of your condition. C-PAP machines are also another treatment option.

If you taking any drugs for hallucination purpose try to avoid that. Try to meditate on daily basis. Yoga will help you refrain from anxiety symptoms.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
