What Causes Tongue To Swell At Night?

Over the last few months my husbands tongue swells up during the night and is huge in the morning. It can take all day to go back to normal. I am sure it's not an allergic reaction to any thing as he has eaten nothing different. He has always snored. I am concerned as he had a cancer spot taken off his face just under the eye about 3 years ago and was wondering if he has more cancer. Can you help please? I'm sorry. I have no money to pay you.
