Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . when we splint loose tooth with other pain occur sometimes . There can be many reasons , but in your case it seems to me that there is infection at periapical areas of loose tooth and tooth do not get fixed at proper position . Due to which force act on tooth in wrong direction and causing pain.

I would suggest you to :-

- Do warm saline rinses several times a day .

- Do betadine rinses 2-3 times a day .

- Take ibuprofen(if not allergic) or paracetamol for pain .

- take soft diet until you get then corrected.

Visit your dentist again for proper examination and to rule out other causes . Doctor may order X-ray . He/she may re-fix tooth in right position and may prescribe antibiotics (amoxicillin) for infection.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain I can understand that you do not want to loose your remaining teeth but in case if you have a loose tooth with a compromised bone support and gum health the better option for you is to get it extracted..

In case if the tooth is splinted or joined with the other tooth the pressure applied to them during chewing will even hamper the condition of the other firm tooth with which the loose tooth is attached as the loose tooth will not be able to take the forces and the forces will be more heavily transmitted to the firm tooth and can cause loosening of the other tooth too..

Pain and loose feeling will continue to happen as any movement of the loose tooth along with the firm tooth will cause pain and discomfort..

I would suggest you to get the tooth detached with the other tooth and in case it cannot be saved extraction is the best option..

You should get the teeth which cannot be saved extracted and once the healing has taken place you can go for a regular denture or implant supported denture.

Hope this information helps..
