What Causes Tooth Pain Along With Sensitivity To Sweets?

Hello, I have braces and there is no brackets on the far back bottom tooth on the right side. The past couple weeks, I have noticed the tooth is sensitive to sweets. This morning, it hurt and was sensitive when I breathed in. During the day, it got worse and is now so bad that I can't even breathe in through my mouth without it hurting. I was pressing on a few of my teeth to see which one hurt. When I pressed on the sensitive tooth, it was sensitive and really hurt! I can't chew on that tooth without it hurting. Why is this happening? What can I do to make the pain stop and is the pain normal for braces?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that the tooth that is sensitive to sweet and painful on pressing and chewing there is a possibility that the tooth is deeply decayed and it is causing the nerves to get irritated even with air..I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done.
In case if the tooth is decayed and is in a condition to be saved then you can be advised to get a root canal treatment done followed by antibiotics and painkillers..
As of now you can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen to relieve pain..
You can apply a numbing gel over the gums to reduce pain and sensitivity..
Do warm saline gargles..
Chew from opposite side and take soft food..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
