hi, I had braces for almost 4 years, before they placed may braces, I had a permanent filling on my R molar. my braces was removed a year and a half, and wearing retainers. Last 2 days ago, may permanent filing on the molar was accidentally removed and cracked. I had a deep molar filling yesterday, the dentist said that it was 3/4 of my tooth affected. there is still pain same pain before filling, is it normal?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain toothache after deep filling on your tooth seems to be most probably due to nerve exposure that is caused due to tooth decay and if the filling is done directly over the nerve, then the nerve will get irritated and inflamed leading to pain..
Consult an Endodontist and get an x ray of the tooth done..
In case if there is nerve exposure then the filling has to be removed and tooth has to be treated with Root Canal treatment for pain relief.. It will be followed by a course of antibiotics and painkillers..
As of now take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and do cool compresses over the cheek..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
