What Causes Traces Of Blood In The Sputum?

hi Doctors,

First of all i would like to thank you for providing this consultation.

Let me describe my problem here: -

one day In 2005 i suffered with Blood vomiting and was taken to hospital and i was medicated with Acurit-4 drug for a period of 6 months.

Later point of time it was fine, now & then(very rare) i see traces of blood in my sputum, which indeed takes me into depression.

I am at 24 now, planning to get married in an year or so , because i undergone medication i feel i should not marry as such i will do injustice to my life partner.

Please let me know your inputs on this, also suggest me what precautions should i take to prevent this.

Thanks,
Surya

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having hemoptysis (blood in sputum). You are also having previous history of tuberculosis.
So following are the likely causes for your hemoptysis.
1. Reactivation of tuberculosis
2. Post TB bronchitis
3. Post TB fibrosis and bronchiectesis.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray, sputum examination for AFB (acid fast bacilli-bacteria causing tuberculosis) and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
On the basis of reports, treatment is directed.
Don't worry, you will be alright. First diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
