What Causes Tremors And Swelling In The Feet Post A Back Surgery?

I had major back surgery on my back T11 and T12 area with rods and screws put in. Just recently my left foot started to vibrate inside. It is not painful but I do have some swelling in both feet because I sit for long period of time. Is the vibration because of nerve reconnection?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to neurological disorders and needs evaluation by a neurologist to perform detailed motor system examination of lower limbs and to look for any signs of cord compression and any post surgical issues.

Also, CT BRAIN to see for any signs of raised intracranial pressure or benign intracranial hypertension etc should be ruled out which can present with wobbly legs.

A repeat MRI of thoracolumbar spine may also be needed. B12 and folic acid levels should also be done and replacement, if needed, may be initiated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
