What Causes Tremors And Tachycardia After Asthalin Nebulization?
Hi, after giving 5 ml nebulization of asthalin 5 mg (1in 10 ml saline) my 19 yrs daughter developed tremors n tachycardia, I went to Dr, he gave hydrocortisone in, she get relieved, this was in the morning, in afternoon again she developed tachycardia which lasts for about 15_20 min, Again today after 24 hrs she had tachycardia. What should I do ? Hoany days this will continue?
Based on the history given your daughter seems to be suffering from the side effects of Asthalin (Salbutamol).
Salbutamol is a selective beta-2 receptor agonist which works by opening of the narrow air ways (bronchodilation) thus used in the treatment of bronchial asthma or allergic bronchitis.
Its most common side effects include tachycardia, palpitations, tremors, hypokalemia (fall in serum potassium levels), etc.
Its usual starting dose is 2.5mg as a single dose. This may be increased to 5mg. Treatment may be repeated up to four times a day.
The undesirable effects of tremors and tachycardia may subside on continuation of treatment within 1-2 weeks. Meanwhile reduce the dose of Asthalin to 2.5 mg.
Hope the advice given above would help her.
