What Causes Tremors In Hands During An Adrenaline Rush?

When I am on stage offering poems to a small audience the adrenaline rush makes my hands shake so much I cannot follow the words on paper. This became a problem recently. I love sharing my writing which is well received. I am looking for a safe and easy way to reduce this problem I am 75 and in good health.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

What you are describing sounds like a form of social phobia where you experience some amount of anxiety and have the adrenaline rush that causes the tremors. A safe drug that can help with this is a beta blocker known as propranolol that your PCP can prescribe for you. The caveat being you should not be on any medications or have any conditions that prevent you from using it.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
