What Causes Tremors In The Hands And Head While Suffering From Fibromyalgia?

I have fybromyalgia and have since 15yrs old I am 43. I train let s say condition myself to endure the pain which is debilitating at times but recently I have started shaking. My arms or hands my head....and when I get stressed I stutter I sometimes can t even get the words out. My Dr was saying maybe stokes? I hate going to the hospital because they see fybromyalgia and they treat me as poorly as they did when I was 15th and it was considered a mental issue,so I won t go. What do you think it could be just stressed induced or strokes, they run in the maternal side . I don t need any more issues and I won t start saying I m living like I m sick i dont want meds because my body get too used to them too fast and I don t want to be increasing and changing all the time ,I can wait until I know I have to take something

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Although there is no cure for tremors, there are ways that fibromyalgia patients can manage them.

Lifestyle changes such as avoiding stress, getting plenty of rest and not drinking caffeinated drinks may help those who suffer from mild tremors or help prevent them from beginning in the first place.

Some patients may be prescribed drugs such as beta blockers, anti-nausea, anti-anxiety, botox, and anti-seizure medications, although none have been approved for the treatment of tremors.

Many find that occupational therapy and physical therapy helps with practical solutions for coping with tremors. In extreme cases, deep brain stimulation may be recommended. See your clinician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
