What Causes Tremors In The Right Arm?

I have involuntary shaking in my right arm occasionally. I don t sleep well and not ususally more than 6 hours at a time. I am aware that I have discs worn in my neck and back from diagnosis about 8-9 years ago and am wondering if the shaking stems from that as my shoulders and neck constantly hurt and make a snapping sound when I pull right or left to relieve the pain. I am 67.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Occasional shaking of right hand can be due to overuse or stress to the specific, especially when there is known spinal/disc problem. Some specific posture/position of the hand can cause excessive nerve pressure & hand tremors. You need reassessment of your spinal problem by investigation like MRI, to confirm the cause followed by specific management by medicines, physical or physiotherapy or surgery in few cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
