What Causes Tremors Only In The Hands?

I am 18 with cp and tremors that affect mainly my hands. I don t want to take medication or things like Botox which is the only thing my doctor wants me to do. Is there any way to decrease or stop my tremors without taking things like such? I don t want to pay money for this answer.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I understand your concern.

The condition can occur if the brain develops abnormally or is damaged before, during or shortly after birth.

There is no cure for the hand tremors, but treatments that provide relief from its symptoms may be helpful in improving quality of life.

In addition to Inj Botox there are oral medications which are helpful in reducing the hand tremors.

Beta blockers like Propranolol, anticonvulsants like Primidone, Topiramate, Gabapentine, or Benzodiazepines like Diazepam, Alprazolam or Lorazepam are effective in the treatment of the hand tremors.

Since you do not wish to take Inj Botox, then the last option is Deep brain stimulation - a surgical treatment option for people with severe tremor despite medical therapy. It involves surgical implantation of electrical leads into the thalamus.

In view of the above explanation, I would advise you to consult a neurologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Hope this answers your query.
Wishing you a very good health.
