What Causes Trichomoniasis While Suffering From UTI?

Can a urinary tract infection cause trich? I was treated for a uti 3 weeks ago but it acted like it was coming back so I went back to the doc today. It all started 3 Saturday s ago. I had wore jeans w/o underwear for about 2 hrs and they were ones I had wore the day before. A few hrs later I started itching on the outside like the vaginal opening. I had had a discharge that was thin, kinda white but No oder. I thought i was ovulating, and it had gotten the jeans wet. That next monday i went to the doc cause of the itching thinking yeast infection. So, 3 weeks ago I was also treated for a yeast infeacion. After taking the one pill dose, it seem to come back, so I used 1 day cream cream on this Monday night. It caused a yellow discharge that I basically considered the cream coming out colored because of urin. With the symptoms of the uti seeming to come back I went to the doc today. I still have a itch, less than what it was but still annoying, so I wanted to be looked at. They asked about swabbing, and I agreed thinking to test the vaginal opening to verify the yeast was still there... Yes I know... So I was a little surprised when the took a swab from inside the vagina. So my diagnosis is a severe uti and trich. I ve been in a relationship with the same man for 5 1/2 yrs. Can a uti cause a false positive. He s not the best at oral higene can he pass on a thrush like bacteria during oral sex that would cause a false positive.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Urinary tract infection and trichomoniasis are two separate infections and both need to be treated separately.
Trichomoniasis is a parasitic infection and it affects the genital tract.
It can get transmitted sexually.
There are chances that your partner is also infected with trichomoniasis thus he too needs to be treated.
Since, there is recurrent infection, thus a urine culture with drug sensitivity needs to be done.
This investigation will isolate with the infectious agent and most appropriate antibiotic effective against the infection.
False positive UTI is an unlikely possibility.
Fungal infection also needs to be treated with appropriate anti-fungals.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare providers for clinical assessment, investigations and thus treatment.

Thanks and take care
