What Causes Tunnel Vision When Standing?

I cycle 30-40 miles a day. The past month I ve been getting tunnel vision every time I stand up from a lying and sometimes seated position. Especially for several hours after my ride. But other than that I m fine. I feel great, plenty of energy, and my heart rate during my rides is in the range it has been the last 10 years. I had a virus induced pericarditis and myocarditis 4 years ago but have been totally cleared and my last ekg 10 months ago was normal - blood pressure is a steady 120/75 every morning and I m a 46 year old male. Should I push up my normal physical which isn t for another 3 months?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need to get a detailed review by an ophthalmologist and get your fundoscopy and detailed slit lamp examination done.

You may also need a vasculitis profile and a neurologist review for any need for brain imaging. any possibility of retinal detachment should be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
