What Causes Twitching And Jerking Motion While On Oxycodone HCL?

My husband recently had back surgery and he was perscribed oxycodone HCL 10mg 1 1/2 tablets every 3 to 4 hours. He is have twitching and jerking motions when he is resting and sleeping. Is this a side affect to the medicine and what can we do about this?

Hi,

I understand your concern.

Twitching and jerking motions after back surgery is due to surgery. Further examination by neurologist is highly recommended to rule out nerve disorders after operation.

Next, should check his blood electrolytes to replace what is lacking.

If none of above, then, it could be due to oxycodone. His doctor will prescribe another pain killer and see if this resolves its jerking.
