What Causes Twitching In The Arm After An Injury?

hello, i am 26 weeks pregnant. I cut my hand almost 2 weeks ago on a metal drinking bottle cap. I went to the dr and they said since it was a small cut with a clean object I did not need Tdap shot (I had a Tdap shot 2 months before becoming pregnant). Anyway, last night I experienced some twitching in the same arm where I was cut (cut is completely healed now). Could it be tetanus, or just anxiety? I have no other symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is highly unlikely that what you experienced is tetanus. A Tdap shot 2 months ago protects you and your baby from that. What you experienced was probably just some random muscle twitching.

If it persists, you could ask your physician to do a serum electrolytes panel on your blood to make sure your electrolyte concentrations are normal. I would not worry though.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
