Hi my name is ashley. I have 2 yr old son and I noticed tonight that when I put him to bed the right corner of his mouth started to twitch upward. It happen about 6 time in a 3 minute span. I called my inlaws as they had him earlier today and they said it happen with them as well. Is this something I should take him to the er for or just call his dr in the morning to be looked at
Understanding your concern. As per your query twitching in the corner of mouth of your 2 year old son is due to inadequate hydration & nutrition status, deficiency of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Calcium, Magnesium and it could be due to poor neuromuscular co-ordination. I would suggest you to go for investigations like complete blood count. A CT scan of brain may also be needed. Symptomatic relief can be obtained with agents like Vit B6, B12, Folic acid as well as multivitamin & mineral supplementation needs to be added in the diet. If symptoms still persist, consult a Neurologist for a proper clinical examination.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
