Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 13 years old and recently started twitching his head. It looks like he is trying to stretch a stiff neck. When I ask him he said it s annoying and that if he tries to not do it, it hurts. He said it s not his neck its at the base of his head. Any ideas how to help him. He is very frustrated. He does it more at night than in the morning.
It would be best, if he is having uncontrolled movements, for him to be seen by his doctor for assessment.
Abnormal movements or movements that are difficult to stop can be due to abnormal function of nerves or muscles. This would need to be determined by assessment by his doctor who may refer him to a neurologist.
I hope this helps
