What Causes Twitching Sensation In The Thumb?

What could cause very specific thumb twitching, meaning it occurs only right after the use of thumb, like after squeezing or pulling something with fingers? Twitch occurs right after any action or exercise at the base of right thumb and pulls the whole thumb to move, usually lasts no more than 30 sex. This lasts for almost 3 weeks now and I am getting pretty scared.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Nerves of your hands may prone to pressure-induced damage which may lead to tingling and twitching.

Other possibilities like carpal tunnel syndrome or hypothyroidism or B12 deficiency or nerve root compression etc.

Use tablet pregabalin and methylcobalamin once a day for five days. Avoid pressure while on using instruments. Avoid tight holding of objects.

Please consult your neuro physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
