What Causes Ulcers At Vein Stripping Site In Case Of CABG?

An elderly lady underwent CABG.
She developed pain ful abscesses in two places in the scar on either side leg,from where the veins were stripped.the abscesses led to painful ulcers,not healing,recalcitrant to many courses of antibiotics.
On colour doppler, it wasfound,there was post CABG stripping venous insufficiency of incompetent perforators.
Are the ulcers post phlebitic or post cvi.

Stripping of long saphenous vein has been done for CABG.In your case there were incompetent venous perforators which have been left out as such.So there bleeding from these perforators,infection which has led to formation of abscess and non healing.Get the abscess drained, antibiotics, keeping the foot end of bed raised.These ulcers will heal.
