What Causes Unbearable Pain Near Bottom Of Rib Cage?

I have pain in my left mid-back, near bottom of rib cage, left side. Piercing, stabbing pain, feels likes it's boring a hole through. Burping, foul stool, bad taste in mouth. This is third day. Tried ice, advil. The only thing that feels good is making a fist and pressing it real hard against the area. No appetite. What is this?
