What Causes Unconsciousness After Taking Pain Medication After An Appendectomy?

My girlfriend was found unconscious after taking pain medication following appendix surgery. She had to be hospitalized. She was throwing up and fainting previously the day she was found. She is currently coming in and out of consciousness. How serious is her condition?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and thanks you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein and I will try to help you as much as I can with my answer.

This is very unusual condition and it should not be related to surgery but may be caused by allergic reaction to medication. So she should do MRI scan and eeg to see is there any brain dysfunction but I believe that she 'll recover soon if she is otherwise healthy.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
