What Causes Unconsciousness Followed By Body Weakness?

Twice in the last 2.5 hours I have had a period of blacking out and dizziness. Once it passes I feel very weak. The first time occurred around 5:30PM and the second happened minutes ago. My daughter witnessed both incidents and the second time she said I blacked out and then I was too dizzy too move for several minutes.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Black outs may be due to
1. Seizures
2. Postural syncope.
3. Hypoglycemia.
4. Anemia.
5. Transient ischemic attack.
6. Ischemic heart disease or sick sinus syndrome.
7. Hypoxemia etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

You have to avoid high risk activities like cooking, driving, climbing a hill etc.

Please consult your physician immediately he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
