General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I feel the cause of the thinness of your husband is his less intake rather than malabsorption. Still, he can be investigated for any digestive insufficiency in form of food allergies or infections; consultation of a gastroenterologist is worth it. After exclusion, he should be encouraged for physical exercises along with protein supplements (in order to build up muscles) & improvement in his health as well as built.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
