What Causes Uneasiness And Pain In Feet And Leg While On Venlafaxine For Depression?
Dear Doctor,I am a patient of depression since 15 years continuously on medication.I am taking Venlafaxine 75 mg HS. At present there is no mental problem, no stress or anxiety etc.I want to enjoy life but my physical condition does not allow me.There are physical problems such as un-easyness in head, irritation, pain in feet, legs Most of the time my head remain in un-relaxed state. Can there be any treatment?
Uneasiness in the head & irritation are side effects of Venlafaxine. Inform your treating doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing so that the doses can be reduced & monitored.
Do not stop taking the medicine by yourself it has to be tapered else you will have withdrawal symptoms.
You are suggested to get clinically examined by a Neurologist or a GP. Get Nerve conduction & blood tests done. Get the required imaging tests done to detect the factor causing you discomfort.
You may need some muscle relaxants or sleep medications. Physical therapy helps, you can do strect exercises etc under a physiothrapist. Take vitamin B6, B12, vitamin E rich food or supplements.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Dr. Nupur K
