What Causes Unexplained Weight Loss In Young Adults?

Hi my 15yr old daughter lost a lot of weight in the last year going from a size 10 to now a size 6 which concerned me she was watching everything she ate and exercising alot we had a good chat about this and she has stopped all this as I had warned her of how unhealthy this was for her body , but she told me that her periods had stopped over 7months ago and this concerns me a lot could u please advise me on the next step to take as she won t visit the doctor about this.

Hi.

The periods discotinuing, or irregularity in her menstrual cycle is in my opinion purely due to a hormonal imbalance resulting from the drastic loss of weight she has suffered. Please make sure you calculate her BMI and help her get back into her normal weight range. Once this is done, her period should appear soon but if it doesn't then report to a doctor for a short course of medications to help support or kick start a period for a while.
