What Causes Unusual Bowel Movement And Nausea After Having Endometrium Biopsy?

I am 40 years old and just had an endometrium biopsy. It is two days later and I am still in pain. This may sound crazy but it feels there is air in my uterus. I am cramping in my lower abdominal area and also spotting. I am having unusual bowel movements and nauseous. What should I do?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Usually, when an endometrial biopsy is taken, the length and version of the uterus is detected using the uterine sound. If this is not properly done, it can lead to perforation, though very uncommon in the non-pregnant state. This can lead to pain, air entry and cramps. While small perforations can be medically managed, larger ones need surgical closure. A sonogram can help to detect this. The other and most common reason for persisting pain is the instrumentation and the dilatation of the cervical os done during the procedure. The medications used can cause nausea and abnormal bowel movement. You can get relief by using an anti-spasmodic. Nausea can be treated symptomatically and so is the bowel movement. Hope this helps.
