What Causes Unusual Nasal Bleeding Upon Waking Up?

Hi, I just had an unusual nosebleed, after waking up in bed. It was quite heavy for 1/2 hour but now has stopped. Tonight I uses vicks vapour rub in my nose before bed. I do this often, as I get stuffy. I also had a drink of water with some baking soda added for mild acid reflux. Would these factors be related to the nosebleed? It is fall here, and the air is dry too.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a nasal polyp. As a first line management you can take drugs like tranexemic acid for symptomatic relief. If bleeding persist better to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
