What Causes Unusual Red And Inflamed Caruncle With Burning Sensation?

I have a slightly swollen and red caruncle. There is a very strong burning and thing sensation. My waterline also itches and the other eye, but it s not as bad. these symptoms have persisted or almost two weeks. If I get my eye wet it burns even more. Around the same time these symptoms occurred, I used a new face wash, which caused an allergic reaction on my skin. I m wondering if it has something to do with his. I have been alleviating the issue with a cold rag, which seems to help a little. What could be going on?

Hello,

A tear duct infection can cause itching and burning in the corner of the eye. When a tear duct becomes blocked and tears cannot drain away, bacteria may collect in the area and cause an infection. Inflammation from a cold or sinus infection may also cause a blocked tear duct and hence inflammation or burning sensation. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an eye specialist.

In the meantime, you can apply cols compress for relief. Keep eyes clean. Do not keep touching it. You can apply Itone eye drops or Ciplox eye drops, 2-3 times a days in the affected eye. Give rest to the eyes. Your treating doctor can prescribe you a course of oral antibiotics like Augmentin or Doxycyline-100. You can take acetaminophen, one SOS when required to get relieve from the pain and swelling.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
