What Causes Unusual Smell In Hands?

My hands have been smelling like metal for the last 2 years. I don t usually touch metal, but it continues to smell like it. And I know its internal because even after showering or washing my hands it s still there... I m talking hair supplements (since 2012) that contain iron, some say it s the build up of iron in my blood? I m worried because on another forum, I ve seen that coppery/coin smell is a sign of diabetes, or a diabete symptom.

Hello,

Both these issues can be excluded by simple blood lab tests. For this reason, I would recommend checking iron plasma levels and fasting glucose levels. You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
