What Causes Unusual Taste In Mouth?

For the last month or so I have this salty taste in my mouth along with Most foods have no flavor. I can taste an ice cream bar that I get at the grocery store but I bought some soft serve at a local dairyette and it had no taste. I can also taste some fruit gummies that I buy for my grandchildren but everything else is very tasteless.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for reaching out.

I understand your concern.

Usually most have this feeling of tastelessness when associated with Acid reflux(GERD) sinusitis, stuffy nose, common cold (or any upper respiratory tract infection), poor dental hygiene (due to the bacterial growth), vitamin deficiencies.

It is advisable to follow a proper good dental hygiene, prevent indigestion by eating healthy and taking antacids may help he same. Treatment is based on the cause, hence identifying the cause of the decreased taste sensation may help.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care,
Regards,
Dr Vignan Rachabattuni
