What Causes Unusual Taste In The Mouth While On Antibiotics?
I have an oily feeling in my mouth and often feel nausea. I was bitten by a Sac Spider 6 weeks ago and have been on antibiotics - high dose, cortisone- high dose, trameset and a sleeping pill since I was bitten. The bite worsened but seems to have stabilized now. I thought due to the nausea and the oily taste that my liver may be the problem caused by all the medication?
As per your complain unusual or abnormal taste along with nausea seems to be the side effects of the medication that you have been taking that too in heavy doses as these medications have a tendency to alter taste as a side effect..
I would therefore suggest you to consult your treating Physician and get evaluated and in case if the bite site has improved, if it is possible he can reduce the dose of the medication..
You need not to worry as the symptoms are temporary and will resolve once the medicine intake is stopped..
As of now to relieve the symptoms you can chew sugar free flavoured chewing gum.. Gargle with flavoured mouthwash.. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
