What Causes Unwanted Weight Loss?

I have been eating a lot over the holiday, and yet my weight is going down. I even weighed myself in the evening when it is always a couple pounds heavier than morning. And even the night weight was low for me. Can you tell me what illnesses are associated with unwanted wight loss? Also at times I have unbearable heart burn. Any clue for me? Thank you, Jeanie

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The unexpected weight loss can be related to hyperthyroidism and HIV like conditions. According to examination investigation planned. For rule out hyperthyroidism, serum TSH, free T4 estimation can be done. Heartburn is related to acidity or acid reflux. For that pantoprazole prescribed. Head elevated while sleeping. Avoid excess spicy foods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
