Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yesterday, I woke up with severe upper abdominal pain and bloating. As the day progressed, I began vomiting which eventually turned into throwing up nothing but bile. I was unable to keep anything down including water. I then began having small amounts of mucus laced diarrhea. The pain continued to get worse and worse with more frequent waves of nausea. After vomiting what looked and smelled like sewer I went to the er. They immediately drew tons of blood and my white blood cell count was over 18000. I had a CT scan which showed nothing wrong in my abdomen. I was eventually sent home with no answers and no relief. I am not the type of person who just pops into the er the minute I feel bad. It is frustrating because I was not told what was wrong with me at all. I am reluctant now to return to a doctor.
Hi You are probably suffering enteritis of bacterial or parasitic origin given your symptoms and the white blood cells count.Stool exam/culture and sensitivity test will be necessary as you might need antibiotics to get over it.In the mean time, i advice you get an anti-emetic like vogalene if vomiting continues, pain medication like paracetamol and go back to the hospital. Its your health here, please don not feel reluctant to do so.You can self request the test and the Doctor will only help you with interpretation. Wish you a quick recovery
