What Causes Upper Abdominal Pain During Pregnancy?

I am 20 weeks pregnant, I have been having really bad pains in my upper stomach. I thought it was bad gas because I was waking up at night for two nights going to the bathroom, and then going on day three the pains are still very bad aren't going ol away and I'm not passing gas. Feels hard to breath and very tender to the touch.
