What Causes Urinary Retention, Bladder Discomfort And Back Pain?

Hi, I had sex on Monday, a few days later I started feeling discomfort in my bladder. I woke up at night feeling the urge to pee, When I got to the toilet it came out in drops, went back to bed and felt the urge to pee again!! It went on all night. I got hydrated with water. And I thought I washed the bacteria out. I ve been quite run down recently with work, finished my period a week ago and have Flu symptoms - but my back, sides and legs ache. Today I was bursting for the loo and now I m spotting blood when I pee.

Bladder discomfort, urination in drops and frequency of urination suggest a UTI.Given the other gynecological symptoms associated like spotting, and given that all these started after sex, STIs will have to be eliminated.I will suggest you see the Doctor for evaluation and investigations.Tests that may help identify the cause of your symptoms may include: urinalysis, vaginal swap smear test, chlamydia test, and other STI test like syphilis.Your treatment will depend on the results of the tests.In the meantime, you may take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen.
