Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had vaginal bleeding every time I have sexual intercourse. There was one instance in which I didn t bleed however I bled 24 hours later. The bleeding is not that heavy and only visible once I wipe. I want to know whats going on. I am 18. Weight 55 kg and 157 cm tall. I have a medical history of asthma and depression.
There are different possible causes for the bleeding and you would need to be assessed by history , physical examination and possibly tests to find the exact cause so that appropriate treatment can be given.
Causes include: (1) infection (2)trauma (3)polyps or benign growths to the cervix or uterus (4)precancerous (not cancerous but can change to cancer) changes to the cervix (5)cancer of the cervix (6)vaginal dryness (7)side effect of medication eg if on medication that increase the chance of bleeding (8)bleeding disorders
Examination of the vaginal area and cervix would be needed. A swab and papsmear, if there is no recent smear, may also be required.
I hope this helps
