What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Intercourse?

I have a Merena IUD in place now for 2 1/2 years. Ive had it checked once. It was fine. I am in a committed relationship for 6 months and ive just recently started bleeding moderately after every time we have intercourse. It last for an hour at most with just slight cramping. Is this something to be concerned about?
