What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Intercourse?

Hi. I was prescribed birth control pills about a month and a half ago. I have been taking it every day. I did have sexual intercourse about 2 weeks ago. I missed a pill. I have been bleeding now for about 3 weeks. It s on and off. It has not stopped. I m concerned about the bleeding. In addition to the bleeding I ve been tired, headaches, sore breasts, bloated, and nauseated. What should I do.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

1. Spotting after intercourse - please meet your consultant and she will examine you and do a pap smear which will be of great help.

2. Irregular cycles for 2 months with spotting - please get an ultrasound pelvis done. to see if the uterus and the ovaries are normal

3 After reviewing of the results your consultant will be able to help you and treat you. if required she might do a few blood tests to check your hormone levels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
