Hi - I had sex last night and the night before. the night before was fine, but last night there was horrible bleeding after sex. i'm a 34 year old female and very in tune with feminine issues. i am just a bit scared after this that something really bad is wrong. i am no longer bleeding, but it was pretty intense.
Post coital bleeding should not be taken lightly and ignored.
The first in the list of differential diagnosis of post coital bleeding is cancer of the mouth of the uterus. The other causes like trauma in the vagina due to rough sex, infection of the cervix come later in a lower percentage.
Please report to the Gynaecologist and get examined internally. If there is any suspicious lesion, growth or ulcer, then biopsy from the suspicious tissue will be taken for histopathology study to confirm the diagnosis.
If there is any trauma inside the vagina, suturing may be required. The infection/erosion of the cervix may be treated with antibiotics and/or cauterization of the erosion.
I hope this helps you.
