Hi. I am 57. I have just had a mirena iud taken out. Two weeks later I started to bleed with what appears to be my period - back again after 10 years. 2 years ago I had a test and my reproductive system was still working. I had the mirena in for 10 years

Hello dear, I really appreciate your concern. Breakthrough bleeding is very common after removal of Mirena IUD due to hormonal imbalance in the body. So there is nothing to worry about it. Bleeding will be stopped after some time.
