What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Sexual Intercourse?

Hi, I am a female age of 19. I just got off my period two days ago but I had sex this morning with my boyfriend and when I went to pee I found urine coming out only my pee hole. It s not painful or anything, but it s been bleeding kinda heavily and its a dark color of blood. It s starting to scare me because I am prone to bladder infections and know when once is in matter and I doubt this is one

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are going through.

The blood you saw when peeing is suggestive for possible urinary tract infection (UTI), which is commonly occurring after sex in patients who are prone to get UTI.

I advise to:
- go to ER and get immediate urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound there for immediate antibiotic treatment
- take cranberry to optimize urine pH
- drink plenty of water with magnesium citrate
- when you have sex, go to toilet to pee immediately after finishing to avoid UTI
- keep good genital hygiene

Wish fast recovery!
